Blox Racing Products (what do you think?)

Postby ATS*Ben on Dec 10th, '08, 04:24

So, I have been talking to Dave (I should be starting work there in Jan.) for Blox Racing. As some of you know, Blox does make some good products, and we would like to know what you guys would be interested in! Here are some of my ideas...

1.) Test Pipe w/ Heat Shields - This idea has been in the works for awhile now, but we haven't had much input on it. This is similar to the design of T1R for the S2000. It is a test pipe with brackets that use the OEM heat shields of the cat. Less hassle if the cops pull you over and take a peek under your car. (Applications include EG/DC/EK/AP/CL/ect.

2.) A Big Brake Kit (Most likely 4 piston) - These are hard to market, since there are so many knock off brands now that can ALMOST do the same thing. We would be using a few designs that we like, and building a nice, FUNCTIONAL big brake kit for Honda's. Again, this idea may take awhile, since buisness has been slow.

3.) K-Series "RBC" Style Intake Manifold - Since the K-Series is becoming more and more popular, the RBC manifold seems to be a hot seller. This would be LOWER priced than the OEM unit, but still feature smooth runners and transitions. Most likely a adapter for something like the P.I.M.P. to be added if the customer would like to add it. This would go nice with the HEADER thats coming out :D

4.) Camshafts for the K-Series - Now, the first sets of the "Blox Competition Type-C" cams have hit the market. I believe that Phil (Spoolin Performance) has the only sets we had right now. I cannot (an nobody else is supposed to  ) the specs on the camshafts, but they WILL out-preform the Skunk2 Stage 3 camshafts. These cams will add TONS of mid-range power. If anyone know someone who has a RUNNING K-Series, who maybe able to donate their car for Dyno-Testing/Tuning, we might have a deal for you! Tuning would DEFINATELY be a requirement (K-Pro or a EMS of any type), but we wont be paying for that. Just give me a shout if your in the SF Bay Area, so that I can see what we can do about getting some runs on the cams. Please include your motor, mods, compression ratio, ect. I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thats it for right now....I'll add a little more tomorrow since it's pretty late right now.

That is a good point. The problem we were having with the EF chassis is that the suspension components that were supposed to fit from EF/DA don't fit correctly, and overall there is a larger market for the EG/DC crowd. We do make some parts for the EF and DA chassis but I will talk to Dave to see what we can do to get more parts for your guys.

Sol,
There just has never been very much interest in any of the Accord stuff that we have ever carried. However, if you can give me a better idea of what the Accord guys are looking for, that would help out a lot. Thanks!

I would be stoked on a nice brake kit that would clear 15" wheels. I currently have a Fast Brakes kit and I think it's cheesey as hell. Something that can retain a hub-centric wheel fitment, 11" rotor and an anodized caliper that doesn't have an enormous logo on it. I'd buy that in a hot one!! :aight:

Sorry, I have WAYYY to many jobs at the moment to handle Blox stuff. BBK's are hard to do, and in order to do them correctly, take a LOT of track testing.

Sorry I didn't warn you about the FastBrakes kits. Unfortunately their kits are mainly for show, and VERY FEW of them kits actually work the way that they were intended to. Even CUSTOM kits built to racers specifications haven't been built right. Stoptech and Brembo are 2 of the BEST kits that are in a reasonable area (well Stoptech at least). To be honest, I ALMOST bought a FastBrakes kit before I talked to Andrie. He recommended that the biggest difference is going to be pads and dissipating heat from the rotors. That would be your best bet until you can afford the Stoptech kit.

I just bought Carbotech XP16 Fronts and XP12 for the Rear on track events. Hawk HP+ for the street. I would really recommend against slotted and ESPECIALLY cross drilled rotors. You will almost never see a full faced/OEM type rotor crack, but slotted are less likely. I'll probably get the Stoptech kit, since it's around $1500 at most places. The more expensive one has a larger rotor. Larger rotors offer more surface area to dissipate heat. The actual "surface" that people often claim to give them extra stopping power is actually the ability to keep extremely high heat out of the rotor to provide cooler rotor temps and less brake fade.

Going with 6-12 piston brakes on a civic/integra/S2000/ect. makes no sense at all. Even more die hard racers really don't use over 6-Piston brakes, due to weight and proper brake proportioning. Hope the info helps you....I should probably post this on our blog ( www.Hella-Grip.com ) :D
